Celebrating Six Years of Local Ownership: The Source’s Chamber Ribbon Cutting

Six years into this game, we've joined the Rogers Lowell Chamber of Commerce in an effort to strengthen ties with our sister businesses in the incredible NWA community. We are so proud to be locally owned and operated.

In fact, it's a unique thing to be a locally owned and operated, single-location business in the cannabis market in the United States. In Arkansas, with 37 dispensary licenses, over 70% are now owned by multi-state operators (MSOs) or have multiple locations. As a single-location, locally owned dispensary, The Source represents fewer than 30% of the market - making us part of an increasingly rare breed of truly local cannabis businesses.

What Local Ownership Means for Our Community

When I joined The Source as Director of Marketing in late 2022, we'd just moved into our new building and were focused on deepening our roots in Northwest Arkansas. After demonstrating our shared vision for what cannabis could mean for our community, the Board entrusted me with the role of CEO in February 2024. Together, we've built programs that ensure cannabis dollars work for our community, not distant corporate headquarters.

Community Reinvestment Through Tip Match

Our Tip Match program has donated $64,632 to local nonprofits including the NWA Women's Shelter, NWA Crisis Intervention Center, VFW Post 3031, and OZASA (Ozark Adaptive Sports Association). On Tip Match days, every tip our budtenders receive gets matched as a donation - transforming everyday transactions into community support.

Supporting Arkansas Artists and Culture

We're committed to keeping our cultural economy vibrant through significant investments in local events, bringing world-class music to Northwest Arkansas year-round. Our annual Bob Marley Tribute concert returns for its 3rd year in 2026, and we have incredible shows lined up for this fall.

Join us at A Tribute to the Last Waltz on November 29th at George's Majestic Lounge, featuring The 1oz Jig's celebration of The Band's legendary farewell concert. Then mark your calendars for Gar Holeidays on December 5th and 6th, also at George's, featuring Nick Shoulders, Sabine McCalla, and rising stars from across the country.

Taking Care of Our Team

Our 55 employees are the heart of The Source. We've invested significantly in employee recognition, training, and professional development. As of October 1st, 2025, we're proud to launch enhanced benefits that make The Source a leader in cannabis employment ensuring our team members can build careers with dignity and security. This isn't just about jobs; it's about supporting 55 Arkansas families with meaningful employment and real benefits.

The Difference Local Makes

Every dollar spent at The Source creates a multiplier effect: supporting local families, funding local nonprofits, sponsoring local events, and building Arkansas-made brands. This is the difference between locally owned businesses and corporate chains.

While multi-state operators maximize profits for distant shareholders, we're building something different here - a cannabis company that measures success not just in revenue, but in community impact. We're grateful to our patients who choose to shop local & make all of this possible.
